Waltham Blog - January 2019

January 1, 2019

Today is the first day of my Waltham blog.

Being the first of the year, it is time to begin 2 yearly projects. First is the GROW (Green Rows Of Waltham) community garden renewal process. We have 142 plots, so it is always a lot of work to find out who is returning, who is leaving, and who to give new plots to. The gardens have been going since 1993. Check out our website. There is some uncertainty about what will happen after this summer, since the University of Massachusetts, owner of the property, has announced that the buildings on the site will be closed at the end of 2019. Best case is that the City takes over the property, and continues to allow the community garden, the community farm, and other users of the site to remain there.

The other project is scheduling of music at the Waltham Farmers' Market. This year, the market season runs from the beginning of June until the end of October.

Since this is the first installment of the blog, I will be interested to hear if anyone reads it. If you do, an email to sshurr@gmail.com would be encouraging.
